Reiki: Universal Life Energy

About Reiki
“Reiki” means Universal Life Energy. In Japanese, Rei means Universe. Ki is the same as Qi in Chinese, meaning energy, air, breath, and vital essence. The practitioner channels energy from the Universe for the benefit of all.
All matter is energy, and people who do Reiki know this firsthand. Receiving Reiki can literally help you to dissolve your pain into Light, while improving circulation, releasing pain and having more energy. The experience differs from one person to another; some feel like they are floating on the sea, while others feel so deeply relaxed that they don’t know where they are after the treatment. In general, people feel peaceful, clear and calm.
Giving Reiki is pleasurable. The person giving experiences themselves to be a conduit for life force moving through their whole body. The giver will not feel exhausted after the treatment; often, they feel more energized after giving a Reiki session, because the Universal Qi replenishes them as they share it with others.
Reiki can be learned once you receive an attunement from a Reiki master. Not only can you melt your stress away, you can heal others as well. It can be given to food, plants, animals and your living or work space. Giving Reiki treatments can have a similar effect to treating people with Qi Gong. However, unlike Qi Gong, the Reiki attunement process works very rapidly to open up the energy channels for this transmission to work. Thus, a person who receives a Reiki attunement can begin to give treatments immediately. Guidelines are then taught to help the person give effective treatments.
In traditional Reiki, there are three levels of attunement. With the second degree, symbols are given so that energy can be sent to people who are not physically present, or used to access the subconscious mind and clear mental/emotional disharmony. It can also be sent to events in your past, to change your perception of those events. In this way, Reiki helps to heal post traumatic stress. These are two examples of distance healing at work.
With the third, Master’s degree, it is possible to give stronger treatments, and also to attune others so that they may give Reiki to themselves and others.
Disease is caused by imbalance, and Reiki balances spirit, emotions, mind and body. Hence, Reiki can help the body to heal itself of many diseases. Reiki is also helpful to people with terminal illnesses. Reiki is used by nurses and volunteers in hospital wards, to help people recover, and to ease their pain.
Many people have experienced the loving power of Reiki to change their lives. Like a prayer, self treatment with Reiki comforts you in times of stress.
During a Reiki session, the person receiving Reiki lies or sits, fully clothed, while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or a few inches over the person's head and body. Reiki opens our awareness to the causes of disease and pain and helps us take responsibility for our lives. People receiving Reiki attunements often report a deepening of their perceptions of themselves and others. It accelerates spiritual evolution and can help us to become more aware of our true path in life.

Some popular cliches in spiritual literature include "Center Yourself", or "Find Your Center". Or, how about "Navel Gazing" as a derisive term for day dreaming, wasting time on "non-productive" activities? What do these terms mean? Is there a practical meaning that escapes most people?
The human body is a bit like the planet that we live on. It has a North pole (the Crown Chakra at the top of the head), a South pole (the Root Chakra that spins straight down from just in front of the tailbone), and an axis on which the energy of our body spins. We call this axis the "tube of light", or "central vertical current". There is a direct relationship between our physical, emotional and mental health and this central axis through which we focus. In fact, if our physical bodies are not aligned with our energetic center line, all kinds of things can go wrong in our lives.
We can be "in front of ourselves", "have our backs up", "back down" when we really need to go forward, or be "beside ourselves" (to the right or left, both with different implications). We can also be "top heavy" (living more in Spirit), or "bottom heavy" (consciousness more Earth-bound). All of these imbalances have their limitations.

The good news is that we can correct any of these through some simple, but persistent, meditation and self healing practises. Sometimes this is a gentle, subtle process, at other times it is more like a "chiropractic adjustment for the soul". Learning how to "Contemplate Your Navel" is a powerful process which, once properly learned, will be yours forever.
In both our group and private sessions (in person, by phone or video chat), I facilitate these transitions in as graceful and powerful a way as possible, given the needs of the person and situation at hand. I have been practising Qi Gong and other energy processes for over twenty years. I am available to assist you in gaining more knowledge of your self as Spirit manifesting through your Body, Emotions and Mind. Every part of you has gifts, and I am at your service to help you to integrate your gifts for Self Empowerment and clarity of life direction.
